Perfect Match with $15 Target Lamps

Me and my Husband recently started redoing our living room in our apartment, we just turned 23 years old and just married so a lot of our furniture was old hand me-downs that we got from friends so we could have furniture in our first apartment. Now that we moved we wanted to start putting our styles together and having our rooms match with new pieces!

When we started we first came up with some colors, I knew white and black would be pretty easy and then we wanted a pop of color and we both agreed on a navy blue color! When we first picked out lamps we automatically thought black would go great with white or cream lamp shade. So this is what we went for.

We found these black twist lamps I believe at Target they were around $30 a piece with the lampshades so very inexpensive and they worked great!

Until one of my many days going to target to just browse I came across these navy blue lamp bases on clearance for $15!! I thought they were so perfect I immediately put them in my basket and was on my way! I got home and put them on the side tables and thought they looked perfect! It's nice to have a unique lamp with color and a different shape!

While our pop of color is blue I didn't want to have to much blue everywhere, we have our blue lamps on the side table, a few blue pillows on the sofa, and we have blue bins on our bookcase to hold games! We also have a dark navy rug under our coffee table! I don't think it feels like to much because each blue item is a little bit different in color so it doesn't all look the same it makes it all come together, and it's not blue all in one spot!

Have you all done a recent updates that you just love? Please share in the comments I would love to check our your post!

Amazing Goodwill Finds

Every since our town has opened a Goodwill I have been addicted, I go in at least once a week to just peek around and see what they have since it changes daily! Some of my favorite items to look for are books, cute kitchen items, decorator piece, and I love looking at the furniture since I'm always up for changing things around the house if I can find something for inexpensive that works better than what I have. Many of my recent finds have been from their 50% off sales they had labor day and the 4th of July. WHAT??! 50% off yes that's right everything was 50% and prices are already great!

I found so many great books that I just had to buy them all while they were 50% off, at my Goodwill soft cover books are normally $1.49 and hardcover books are $2.49 which are awesome deals since even at Walmart books are upwards of $8-12 for a softcover and more for a hardcover. So all the books I got were either $.75 or $1.25.

I also found some super cute home stuff and a napkin holder I could not resist for only $1 The vase I actually found after I purchased one at a recent Ikea trip, so I picked up a matching one from goodwill for only $.49! I also found 3 little jars for $.49 each that I will use in the bathroom or anywhere really to hold little things!

Unfortunately I always look at the clothing and come home empty handed, my goodwill just doesn't have anything that catches my eye all the clothes they carry are things clearly people don't want anymore like Macy's and Target clothes from 20+ years ago! I think next time I am going to look harder and maybe actually try some things on, sometimes looking at used clothes on a hanger doesn't look as good when it's tried on! So if I pick anything up I will be sure to show you all!

Have you found any recent thrift store finds you would like to share, link your page below and I will be sure to check it out, I love seeing what others find!

Creating A Gallery Wall

Step 1: Pick Your Frames

The first step I would recommend doing is choosing your frames providing you have already choosen a place you would like to set up your gallery wall. That way you know the size and about how many frames you would like to use.

Step 2: Choose your artwork

Pick things out that reflect yourself, whether that be personal pictures, magazine clippings, or your kids paintings. They don't necessarily have to be pictures either you can really frame anything of your choosing such as travel tickets, or an old love note!

Step 3: Frame your artwork

Depending on what style your going for, choosing frames that are different sizes is fun, and most of the time your artwork and pictures are going to vary in sizes! The  frames I used are all the same but different sizes, and I also mixed in a few frames that don't hold photos at all, to make it a little different!

Step 4: Make a Rough Draft

This was probably the step that took me the longest, I placed all the frames on the floor and just played around with a layout until I found one that I liked and would look pleasing to the eye on the wall! To get a general start with a layout I like to start with the bigger frame in the middle and work around that!

Step 5: Time to hang up everything

There are many ways to hang up frames so they are perfectly in the layout that you want, I probably did this the hard way but it's what worked for me. I basically took a roll of tape and outlined all the frames with tape, and then I peeled the tape off each frame and stuck it on the wall where I wanted that frame to go. When all the tape was on the wall in the outlines of the frames I then got my hammer and nails and began putting the nails in and then hung everything all the wall!

I just love the way it came out, my wall gallery is a bit traditional, I've had it this way for about a year now, I'm thinking about changing it up, so if I get around to that I will have to make an update post on what it looks like!

Thanks so much for reading, I hope this helped send me a link in the comments and I will check out your gallery wall!
